6 Tips to make your health a priority as a postpartum mum

  1. Plan your day or week ahead of time

Creating a plan will help with knowing what's happening on that day. You can add things that you want to do to make your health a priority. Some examples could be going for a walk 2x a week, going food shopping every Sunday, exercising 2-3 times a week etc.

  1. Set realistic goals

Creating goals can help you define the steps needed to achieve them. Consider spending a few minutes creating realistic goals. Start small and create a few habits that you can improve on, this could be stretching, reading, exercising, walking, skincare or eating breakfast each morning etc. You don’t want to overload your plate and try to do a million things at once. Build consistency with a couple and then you can add more to work on.

  1. Find an accountability partner

This could be your partner, a friend, a coach or someone in your life that can help you achieve your goals. If you are wanting to achieve something let that someone know and they can keep you accountable. Maybe you and a friend can go for walks twice a week or exercise with a coach once a week.

  1. Involve your kids

Involving your kids is an incredible way to achieve something for you, this could be a walk, an exercise class or simply just spending time outdoors in the sun. Also,

them seeing that you making your health a priority will be inspiring for them.

  1. Maximize small chunks of time

Using the time they are sleeping, or at daycare to your advantage. You might only get 20 minutes while your baby is sleeping but that is time that you can spend on your health. You could increase your NEAT by mowing the lawns or vacuuming. You could spend your time taking some downtime and reading, journaling or watching shows you've been wanting to watch or having a nap.

  1. Plan your meals

Planning your meals will help you know what you are having each day. Preparing and having easy on-the-go meals is crucial for you as a mum. Creating foods that will make your life easier is what will help you improve your health
